Understand from the beginning
In May 2022, SINOBRAS and Vale signed a commitment to develop a new steel billet production plant in Marabá. Following the established schedule, after several months of discussions, Hatch was chosen to lead the project's development. On January 9, 2023, the kick-off meeting (first meeting) to start the project, which is expected to be completed in 6 months.
The division of responsibilities
Under the signed agreement, Vale supports the project by issuing guarantees to facilitate the financing contracted by SINOBRAS for the installation of the new steel plant. SINOBRAS is responsible for the engineering studies and implementation and operation of the plant, as well. Production at the new steel plant is expected to begin after startup from Tecnored, scheduled for the 2nd half of 2025.
Soon after signing the agreement, SINOBRAS began structuring its team and created a management team to oversee the new project. In addition to generating new jobs and revenue, the new steel plant will guarantee the necessary supplies for SINOBRAS's growth through expansion, as well as provide the conditions for the development of a Metal-Mechanical Hub in Marabá.
