Ferro OK arrives on the market focused on the distribution of iron and steel in the city of Fortaleza (CE).
1981
Aiming at a new commercial and marketing strategy to expand distribution throughout the state of Ceará, Ferro OK becomes Aço Cearense.
1997
With the aim of enhancing customer service, with greater agility and a more varied product mix, Aço Cearense opens its first industrial unit, Aço Cearense Industrial.
2004
The company stands out in the steel market in Latin America, through the production of welded tubes for various segments and is recognized as the largest private cargo handler in the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex – CIPP, in the state of Ceará.
2006
In 2006, the construction project for SINOBRAS – Siderúrgica Norte Brasil, located in Marabá in the state of Pará, began.
It is the first integrated long steel mill in the North and Northeast of Brazil.
2008
Aço Cearense Group invests in the expansion of Aço Cearense Industrial, increasing production capacity by approximately 35% in the flat products area.
Aço Cearense Industrial receives the Contributors Award for the first time, granted by the government of Ceará to the largest taxpayers in the state.
SINOBRAS starts operations with its steel mill and rolling mill units. The SI50 rebar receives INMETRO accreditation.
Ian Corrêa, Vice-president of the Aço Cearense Group, receives the awards: “Businessman of the Year of Marabá”, by the Commercial and Industrial Association of Marabá; “Citizen of Marabá”, by the Municipal Chamber of Marabá; “Honor to Legislative Merit” and “Order of Cabanagem Merit”, by the Legislative Assembly of Pará.
2009
Aço Cearense Industrial invests in expanding its manufacturing area.
SINOBRAS invests as a self-producer in the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant, with a stake of 1%, in the order of R$ 250 million.
It reaches the milestone of one thousand employees. And it receives the ORM/ACP Award, granted by the Rômulo Maiorana Organizations and the Pará Commercial Association, in recognition of the most important companies in the State in 2008.
The Aço Cearense Group signs a memorandum of understanding with Vale to implement the Aline Project, a flat steel mill for rolling steel plates for Alpa (a Vale steel mill) in Marabá-PA. Ian Corrêa, Vice President of the Aço Cearense Group, is honored as a Citizen of Pará by the Legislative Assembly of Pará.
2010
Aço Cearense reaches the milestone of half a million tons of steel sold this year.
Vilmar Ferreira, President of the Aço Cearense Group, receives the title of Businessman of the Year in Belém (PA).
SINOBRAS starts operating the DRAWING unit.
2011
In 2011, Grupo Aço Cearense increased the distribution scope of its products throughout Brazil.
SINOBRAS received the Redes Award for developing suppliers in Pará.
The SINOBRAS Sintering unit has started operating.
2012
In 2012, Grupo Aço Cearense launched its new brand, associating the company's attributes as a leader in the metallurgical sector, product quality and a firm presence in the market.
Aço Cearense Industrial increases its production capacity to 760 thousand tons.
SINOBRAS reaches the production milestone of 1 million tons of steel billets, launches the project to expand its production capacity and begins construction of the first series of furnaces at the SINOBRAS Florestal Reducer Production Unit.
WMA Trading is created, a company responsible for import and export commercial transactions.
For the fifth consecutive year, Aço Cearense Industrial receives the Taxpayers Award, in the category of collection of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS), granted annually by the Government of Ceará to the 50 largest taxpayers in the state.
2013
In 2013, Grupo Aço Cearense was once again featured in the 2013 edition of Exame Melhores e Maiores magazine, this time ranking 185th in the ranking of the 200 largest groups and 5th among those with the greatest growth in profitability. It was also highlighted in the “Valor 1000” survey, published by the newspaper Valor Econômico.
In the ranking by region, Aço Cearense is ranked 13th among the 50 largest in the Northeast and SINOBRAS is ranked 41st in the North and Central-West regions. In the general ranking, Aço Cearense is ranked 249th and SINOBRAS is ranked 637th.
Grupo Aço Cearense and South Korean Posco sign a Memorandum of Understanding, which establishes the intention to develop a technical and economic feasibility study for the installation of a flat steel rolling mill in Ceará.
SINOBRAS reaches the production milestone of 1 million tons of laminates and begins the SINOBRAS Phase II project, which foresees an investment of around US$$ 200 million for the following achievements: construction of the 230 Kv Substation and Transmission Line; acquisition of Shredder equipment for the processing of 170 thousand tons/year of scrap.
2014
The Aço Cearense Group completes 35 years of operations in the steel market.
The Group's corporate management gains strength and unity of language with the implementation of the SAP system in all companies.
Aço Cearense Industrial (ACI) receives for the sixth consecutive year the Taxpayers Award in the category of collection of Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) in Fortaleza and Metropolitan Region, granted annually by the Government of Ceará.
SINOBRAS is considered the second best company to work for in the state of Pará, in the “Pleasure in Working 2014” survey, carried out by Gestor Consultoria and the Business Notebook of Diário do Pará, which evaluated the People Management practices of 32 companies.
SINOBRAS is also honored with the “Holos” award, given to the steel company for having the best People Management tools implemented, and receives the Low Carbon Seal from the Ministry of the Environment.

The Aço Cearense Group is celebrating its 36th anniversary. The Aço Cearense Group is ranked among the best and largest companies in the country by Exame Magazine and is once again ranked among the largest groups in Brazil by Valor 1000.

SINOBRAS celebrates its 10th anniversary, breaks steel production records and receives three awards in the Pleasure to Work survey: 3rd place in the ranking of the 15 Best Companies to Work for in Pará, the Gente de RH Trophy and the Inovare Award, for implementing the project for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Industrial Operations. It also receives the Líderes do Norte award, held by the Pará group Negócios e Destaque (NED).
2017
SINOBRAS Florestal breaks revenue record.
Aço Cearense appears in the Época Negócios 360º ranking in 328th place among the 500 largest companies in Brazil and SINOBRAS appears in 433rd place among the 1,000 largest companies in the country by net revenue in the IstoÉ Dinheiro magazine ranking.
2018
The Aço Cearense Group is celebrating its 39th anniversary with almost 4,000 employees; it appears for the fourth time in the Valor 1000 ranking, in 314th place, gaining 34 positions compared to 2016, and is also listed in 19th place among the 50 largest companies in the Northeast region, rising 5 positions; SINOBRAS was once again in the special edition of the Valor Econômico newspaper yearbook “Valor 1,000” in 698th place among the 1,000 largest companies by net sales value in 2017 and appeared in the Estadão ranking in 539th place among the 1,500 largest Brazilian companies based on net revenue earned in 2017.
2019
Grupo Aço Cearense, with 40 years in the market, stood out among the largest companies in Brazil, occupying 286th position in the Valor 1000 ranking and 17th among the 50 largest in the Northeast.
In the Época Negócios 360º Yearbook, it advanced to 296th position among the 500 largest by net revenue, also reaching 2nd place in Corporate Governance in the steel industry.
SINOBRAS, another company in the Group, was recognized at the 2019 Anamaco Awards and rose to 644th place in Exame Melhores & Maiores. In addition, it received honorable mentions in IstoÉ Dinheiro and Aço Cearense Industrial Matriz was awarded by SUEZ for its water-saving initiatives and efficiency in the refrigeration system.
2020
Grupo Aço Cearense was once again included in the ranking of the largest business groups in the country, this time in the Valor Grandes Grupos yearbook.
Prepared by the newspaper Valor Econômico, the 18th edition of the guide presented the main corporations operating in Brazil, including GAC in 200th place.
The Aço Cearense Institute has completed 10 years of operation, developing strong work in the social area and contributing to the strengthening of the communities where the Aço Cearense Group operates.
Grupo Aço Cearense won the SAP InnovationAwards 2020 for using SAP AnalyticsCloud (SAC) to optimize its budget planning process. The solution stood out among 264 entries worldwide as one of the most significant examples of innovation.
2021
With revenues of 3.6 billion in 2020, in the Valor Grandes Grupos ranking, Grupo Aço Cearense was among the 200 main corporations operating in the country.
In the Valor 1000 yearbook, since 2013, it appears as one of the largest Brazilian companies.
In addition, companies in the Group also stand out, such as SINOBRAS, which was listed in the Época Negócios 360° ranking, in 291st place among the 500 largest companies in the country and in 207th among the 334 best companies in excellence, standing out in various sectors of the economy, also reaching 2nd place in the Financial Performance indicator and 5th in the Sustainability indicator, within the Mining and Steel segment.
2022
Grupo Aço Cearense, with over 42 years of experience, adopts a sustainable and innovative strategy based on human values and ESG principles, standing out as the largest steel scrap recycler in the North-Northeast.
At SINOBRAS, 70% of the steel produced comes from scrap, and SINOBRAS Florestal supplies eucalyptus bioenergy to 17 farms.
The Group also develops projects to reduce environmental impact, such as water reuse and reverse logistics for hazardous materials.
In partnership with Vale, SINOBRAS is building a new steel mill in Marabá (PA), which will use raw materials from Tecnored, a subsidiary of Vale.
2023
With 44 years of history, the Aço Cearense Group launched Aço Cearense Logística, centralizing the logistics of all the Group's companies.
SINOBRAS began operations at Rolling Mill 2, with the capacity to increase production from 380 to 850 thousand tons of rolled steel per year.
In 2023, the Group was ranked as the 220th largest company in Brazil by Valor 1000 magazine and ranks 6th in the metallurgy and steel sector.
The Instituto Aço Cearense, which is 13 years old, has already invested more than R$28.5 million in social actions, benefiting more than 454 thousand people, and now supports the Favela 3D Project in Fortaleza, aiming to transform vulnerable communities.
2024
With an annual turnover of R$6 billion and an increase in production capacity to 1.4 million tons, Grupo Aço Cearense celebrated its 45th anniversary with achievements that reinforce its grandeur.
In such a special year, the company consolidated its position in the market, appearing once again in the Valor Econômico ranking. We were recognized as the 6th largest company in the metallurgy and steel sector in Brazil, the 17th largest in the Northeast and we occupied the 263rd position among the 1000 largest companies in the country.
2024 was a year of evolution and growth, marked by the relentless search for innovation, digital transformation, technology optimization and sustainability.
