SINOBRAS – Siderúrgica Norte Brasil SA, a company of the Aço Cearense Group, received this Friday morning (23) a visit from the new Secretary of State for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), José Fernando Gomes Júnior, and his entourage. Ian Corrêa, Vice President of Operations of the Group, and Clayton Labes, Director of Sustainability at SINOBRAS, presented to the Secretary the company's expansion project “SINOBRAS phase 2” and the needs for its progress.
During the meeting, Secretary José Fernando Gomes Júnior reaffirmed Governor Helder Barbalho's commitment to the company's expansion and expressed his willingness to help in any way necessary.
"The expansion of SINOBRAS is very important for us and for Pará. It will generate a peak of 600 jobs during the implementation phase and 220 direct jobs during the operational phase. We will produce new products, CA 50 rebar in coils and wire rod, enabling us to attract new companies to the region to consume this raw material and generate more jobs and income. We are honored and very optimistic about this meeting and support," says Ian Corrêa, Vice President of Operations at Grupo Aço Cearense.
The SINOBRAS Phase 2 expansion project, which had been halted since 2015, was resumed in October 2020. The project includes the installation of Rolling Mill 2, with a production capacity of 500,000 tons/year of rolled steel coils; a new coil straightening warehouse; and a new substation and 230kV transmission line. This will increase SINOBRAS's annual production capacity of 380,000 tons of rolled steel to 880,000 tons/year.
