In November, the successful startup of Rolling Mill 2 at SINOBRAS, a company belonging to the Aço Cearense Group, was consolidated with the first coil of wire rod produced. With the implementation of the new steel mill area, production capacity will more than double, from 380,000 to 850,000 tons of rolled steel per year.
The company will offer new products to the domestic market, such as rebar coils (both coiled and spooled) and wire rod. The new rolling mill, which uses cutting-edge technology to manufacture the Group's products, will strengthen the development of the region and Brazil as a whole.
With an investment of over R$ 1 billion, the total project comprises the installation of Rolling Mill 2, with a production capacity of 500 thousand tons/year of rolled steel in coils and spoolers, and a new substation and 230kV transmission line, which aims to meet the new electrical load needs of the steel producer and enable the use of energy from the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant, of which it is a partner as a self-producer.
Milton Lima, the Group's Industrial Director, considers it a transformative moment for the Group. "This achievement represents a significant milestone for Grupo Aço Cearense, elevating us to an even higher level. By doubling the size of SINOBRAS, we are not only expanding our operations but also transforming our company into a powerhouse, generating new opportunities. This date is truly special, filled with joy and celebration. We congratulate the entire team for the exemplary execution of this project, carried out with total commitment and safety."
Ian Corrêa, vice president of operations at Grupo Aço Cearense, emphasizes the importance of the collaborative effort: "We believe in achieving this milestone, driven by the work of our teams and the boldness and courage that define us. We celebrate this victory thanks to the commitment of our teams, suppliers, and partners. With this expansion, we are leveraging the growth of our customers, boosting the region where we operate, but also contributing to Brazil's progress. This is everyone's achievement," Ian concludes.
