SINOBRAS donates oxygen cylinders to the Marabá Health Department

SINOBRAS faz doação de cilindros de oxigênio para Secretaria de Saúde de Marabá

In solidarity with the difficult times the country has been facing since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Grupo Aço Cearense has been taking steps to support the regions where its companies operate. To this end, SINOBRAS provided additional oxygen cylinders to the Marabá City Hall for use in the city's hospital network.

The partnership with the Marabá City Hall should alleviate the situation at the Municipal Hospital, which currently requires oxygen to supply the wing created for COVID-19 patients, according to Municipal Health Secretary Valmir Silva Moura. "We currently have a hospital within a hospital: the building we already had and the annex we built for COVID-19 patients, which currently has more patients than the other wings. The structure set up outside the hospital has no oxygen piping, so we need the cylinders to continue treating the patients currently hospitalized. We are going through a difficult time, and this partnership is important to combat the pandemic," explains the secretary.

Raynner Caldeira, supply manager at Grupo Aço Cearense, explains that the oxygen shortage has even affected industrial processes, but that the company has been committed to helping with what it understands as the most important thing: preserving lives. "We understand the difficulties the municipality is facing. As an industry, we are even halting some work fronts due to the oxygen shortage. So our current effort to purchase these cylinders is solely to help the Health Department get through this difficult period. As far as we're concerned, this partnership will be implemented whenever necessary," the manager assures.

The Aço Cearense Group has been implementing actions to combat the pandemic since April 2020, through the Instituto Aço Cearense and its companies, to mitigate the effects of the spread of Covid-19. This is the second time that SINOBRAS has donated oxygen cylinders to the Marabá City Hall, in addition to other campaigns donating basic food baskets, masks, and cleaning and personal hygiene supplies to underserved communities.
