Among the projects promoted by GAC is EducaAço, which enables its employees to complete elementary and high school education free of charge. In partnership with SESI, Aço Cearense Industrial hosts teachers at the company once a week, in rooms equipped with multimedia and teaching materials. Furthermore, Aço Cearense Comercial employees can also attend classes daily at the Ceará State Association for the Blind, a partner of the Group. All students receive teaching materials from the company, as well as transportation and uniform assistance. The EducaAço project has been running at the companies since 2013 and has already benefited 414 employees.
The Group also promotes an annual Educational Project across all its companies. Implemented since 2010, the project aims to raise awareness among employees' children about the importance and value of education during school. Students from public and private schools who achieve a final grade point average of 8.0 or higher during the school year are eligible to participate. Enrolled students who achieve this average receive a certificate, school materials to support their studies, and participate in an innovative experience to enhance their knowledge.
The Aço Cearense Institute, which works on the Group's social issues, also supports several institutions in Pará and Ceará, with a focus on education. According to Rosemeire Matos, president of the Aço Cearense Institute, one of its initiatives is Junior Achievement, an international non-profit association founded in 1919 in the United States and present in 124 countries. "The association aims to build a new culture in school and academic education and provides resources for young people to become entrepreneurs.
Founded in Ceará in March 2005, with headquarters in Fortaleza, it offers a range of 25 educational programs focused on entrepreneurship, benefiting children, adolescents, and adults throughout Ceará. More than 132,000 young people and 3,300 volunteers have passed through the institution, and its social technology has already benefited 71 municipalities in Ceará," explains the president.
