The athlete sponsored by the Aço Cearense Institute and also a driver for SETRAN at Aço Cearense Comercial is back in cycling competitions. After a few months away due to the pandemic, racing has resumed in Ceará, and Gilberto Silva already has something to celebrate. Having placed first in the Horto Cycling Challenge, which took place on August 23rd, the athlete is already among the top-ranked athletes in the Ceará State Championship.
The Desafio do Horto, a race held in the city of Maranguape, became a stage of the Ceará XC Championship (Cross-country - a cycling discipline within Mountain Bike), and with the victory, Gilberto moved up to 3rd place in the Ceará rankings. According to the cyclist, even during the pandemic, he continued training. "Since cycling is an individual sport, I continued training hard and preparing for the return of racing. I'm happy that competitions are returning safely and that my efforts are being rewarded," says Gilberto, who is awaiting the schedule of the next Ceará Championship races to determine his future participation.
