Steel Race and Walk mobilize Marabá and region

Corrida do Aço e Caminhada mobilizam Marabá e região

The 8th Steel Race and 3rd Walk, held on November 11th, were once again a success. The event mobilized a large crowd at São Felix Valois Square, across from Marabá's waterfront, where the sporting event started and finished. The initiative, held annually by SINOBRAS, commemorated the company's 12th anniversary—officially celebrated on November 6th—and the start of steel production in Pará.

"I trained hard, but I didn't expect to win, as this is my eighth year participating and I'd never placed first before. I was so happy! Now, it's time to celebrate the victory and prepare for next year," said the athlete.

On the occasion, Ian Corrêa, Vice President of Operations for Grupo Aço Cearense, welcomed those present, thanked the city's residents for their continued support of the event, and emphasized its importance for promoting sports culture. Milton Lima, Industrial Director, also thanked everyone for their participation.

A total of R$ 7,600.00 was awarded. The race winners in each category received the following prizes: a trophy, a medal, and R$ 500, as well as a Café Santa Clara kit (first place); a medal and R$ 350 (second place); and a medal and R$ 250 (third place). The top two teams—SINOBRAS and Comunidade—received trophies and R$ 500. There were no specific prizes awarded for the walk itself. Participants received a participation medal, as did all runners.
