The rainy season is approaching, and with it arboviruses—insect-borne diseases—proliferate in greater numbers during this time of year. To help its employees better understand these diseases, their transmission methods, and how to protect themselves, the Aço Cearense Group hosted a series of lectures on the subject.
Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya were the topics discussed by Occupational Health Physician Fernanda Rocha and Hapvida Preventive Medicine nurses Leonardo Cardoso and Maria Janaína Marques. It was crucial for participants to understand what to do during this time when diseases are more prevalent in our city. "The lecture was important because it provided more knowledge for us to take care of ourselves and prevent diseases," said André Freitas, a Services employee at Aço Cearense Comercial.
The final lecture took place on January 11th and was attended by 150 employees. According to Katarina Lima, Occupational Health Nurse at Aço Cearense Industrial, the lecture provided employees with information on how to care for domestic and business environments to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, helping to maintain everyone's health. "Our goal is to raise employee awareness about diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito and reinforce prevention measures that involve eliminating potential breeding grounds for the mosquito that transmits the disease," explained Lima.
