Instituto Aço Cearense donates resources to benefit public health and nutrition for needy families

Instituto Aço Cearense doa recursos para beneficiar saúde pública e alimentação de famílias carentes

This month, the institution is donating hospital supplies and 4,000 basic food baskets.

The coronavirus pandemic has gone down in history as one of humanity's greatest crises. Given the current global situation, the private sector has taken significant steps to mitigate its impact. In solidarity with those suffering from the spread of COVID-19, the Aço Cearense Institute of the Aço Cearense Group donated hospital supplies to the Fortaleza healthcare network and basic food baskets to needy families.

The institution donated ventilators (adult, pediatric, and neonatal) and leased equipment for the assembly of units at the Fortaleza General Hospital (HGF) and for air conditioning. The Institute also donated 2,000 basic food baskets to socially vulnerable families in Fortaleza, Caucaia, and São Gonçalo do Amarante, and sent another 2,000 baskets to a joint effort with the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará (FIEC).

For Rosemeire Matos, president of the Instituto Aço Cearense, these donations are part of a movement the institution sees as essential. "Bringing help and a measure of relief to people directly impacted by the pandemic is a social duty. Grupo Aço Cearense is a company that embodies human values in its corporate purpose, and that's why our institute was created—to transform lives, contribute to a more just society, and assist those most in need," she states.

The Instituto Aço Cearense has been actively involved in social initiatives throughout its 11 years of existence and has intensified its contributions since March 2020. The Grupo Aço Cearense has made several donations during the pandemic, such as donating oxygen cylinders to city halls in Ceará and Pará, and also donating tons of food, masks, school kits, COVID tests, medicines, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene products to underserved communities.
