Since the beginning of the new coronavirus pandemic in Ceará, schools and daycare centers have closed their in-person activities and, to minimize the impact on the school year, students have started taking classes online.
However, many institutions were unable to provide educational materials to support children, as is the case with Creche Nedi Isaias Barbosa, in the Parque Leblon neighborhood, in the municipality of Caucaia.
Thinking about contributing to the development of students, last Thursday (20), the Instituto Aço Cearense donated more than 170 kits with teaching materials that will help develop school activities at home. The school kits contain a box of colored pencils, modeling clay, gouache paint, sketchbook and glue.
The daycare coordinator, Joênia de Oliveira, explains that many children don't even have access to the internet to take online classes.
"We have a project to connect students and teachers, but many students don't participate due to lack of access. It would still be possible for them to do activities at home, but we face a bigger problem: the lack of teaching materials for everyone.
Based on this insight, we approached the Instituto Aço Cearense and had our project approved. We were thrilled to be able to alleviate our students' challenges."
For Rute Silva, mother of five-year-old Maria Vitória Silva, this material came at a great time, as it was difficult to complete homework with her daughter. "Being at home, it's already difficult to explain to her that she has to do her homework, imagine without the material. It was a very important contribution, because now we can keep up with her schoolwork," explains the mother.
According to Luciana Rabelo, coordinator of the Instituto Aço Cearense, this donation is part of a support for the Pintando o Sete em Casa project, an extension of the daycare center's work. "This project is developed through activities that enhance educational attainment, through playful and enjoyable experiences, with the goal of expanding and enhancing the comprehensive development of family painting and art experiences," explains the coordinator.
