Parents and children share stories of pride and closeness as they work together at Grupo Aço Cearense

Pais e filhos contam histórias de orgulho e aproximação ao trabalharem juntos no Grupo Aço Cearense

What father doesn't enjoy spending as much time as possible with his children? What son isn't proud to see his father working and caring for the family? Thus, time with parents is always precious. For those who can spend as much time together as possible, working at the same company can make a difference in the father-son relationship. This is the difference some families achieve at Grupo Aço Cearense.

Wangras Santos is an employee at SINOBRAS, a company in the Aço Cearense Group, whose story involves his relationship with his father and his work. Almost ten years ago, the junior engineering planner joined the company with the support of his father, Milton Santos, who was already working in mechanical maintenance. Since then, a long and close partnership has been forged between them.

"When my father came to work here at SINOBRAS, about a year later, a position opened up, and he thought of me. When I passed the selection process, we were very happy because it was an opportunity for us to become even closer. I see my father as a role model, and it's very important for me to be present and see that he's proud to have me around and see me grow up.

When I got married and left home, I felt bad about not seeing my family every day like I used to, but work gives me this daily connection with my father,” says Wangras.

Many companies have restrictions on having family members working in the same location. However, for Grupo Aço Cearense, a strong family base is one of the company's core values.

For Yasmin Coelho, administrative assistant at Aço Cearense Industrial, she had to overcome the fear that people would think she was only there because of her father, who had worked there for many years. "My father, Francisco Coelho, has worked in automotive maintenance for about ten years, and I joined the company four years later.

He was already well known and I was afraid that people would think I got the job because of him, but I was very well received and managed to grow on my own merit, going from apprentice to assistant.

I realize how proud my father is of me, for following a similar path to his in the company, with a lot of work and responsibility, earning the respect and admiration of people and that's why I feel very happy to work so closely with him, because he follows me closely", explains Yasmim.

According to Human Resources Coordinator Eliana Freitas, with Father's Day approaching, Grupo Aço Cearense reinforces the importance of family in its values. "For us, it's very positive to have these and so many other stories of fathers and sons who grow closer through their work and the close relationships they share within our companies.

Having family members in the workplace brings a sense of pride and makes them feel more welcome. For parents who don't work with their children, we have a family visitation program at Group locations as a way to bring them closer together," explains the HR manager.
