Aço Cearense donates 160 thousand reais in invoices to CRIO

Aço Cearense doa 160 mil reais em notas fiscais para o CRIO

Pink October raises awareness about cancer prevention and diagnosis, providing information and support to cancer patients. In support of the campaign, Aço Cearense collected R$160,000 in receipts throughout the month and donated them to CRIO – the Integrated Regional Oncology Center on November 6th.

The amount raised from the invoices will help maintain Nossa Casa (Association to Support People with Cancer) and CRIO (Integrated Regional Oncology Center) projects, such as Costurando Sonhos, in which patients develop a sewing project, making bags, car trash cans and laptop holders that are sold to raise money for the support house.

For Lara Montenegro, Communications Manager at CRIO and Nossa Casa, these donations are crucial. "We have several productive sectors to maintain, and these invoices will also help us, as the institution relies solely on donations," Lara explained.

In addition to donating receipts, employee Wany Araújo donated her hair to the project "Um pedacinho de amor não dói" (A Little Piece of Love Doesn't Hurt), which makes wigs for women with cancer who have already lost their hair. Patients who wish to wear the wigs must register with CRIO and participate in the loan bank to be eligible for the hair. Once the patients no longer need the wigs, they are returned to CRIO so that other patients can use them. "It's very gratifying to know that my hair will serve as motivation and encouragement to boost the self-esteem of these patients undergoing cancer treatment," said the Aço Cearense Filial employee, happy to be able to help with the project.
