Gilberto Silva, a cyclist from Ceará and a collaborator at Aço Cearense Comercial, represented Ceará in the Brazilian stage of the Pan-American Road Paracycling Circuit, finishing fourth. The event took place on August 24th and 26th in São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo state.
Gilberto has been sponsored by the Instituto Aço Cearense for eight years and has reached over 300 podium finishes. He is the current champion in his category in the 2017 Brazilian rankings. With his placement at the Pan American Games, he is already among the top four in this year's national rankings.
For Gilberto, it was truly thrilling to participate in a race like this. "In the first race, I was 11 seconds away from the medal, and at that moment, a movie of our lives plays in our heads. Unfortunately, I suffered a lot from the cold in the endurance race, but I fought until the end," explained the paracyclist, who reports being happy with the final result.
