IAC visit to the municipality of Marco in Ceará

Visita do IAC ao município de Marco no Ceará

The Instituto Aço Cearense visited the municipality of Marco, Ceará, to begin a partnership with the city's Department of Education, Sports, and Culture. The event aimed to showcase the Institute's social projects and offer a workshop on Building and Developing Social Intervention Projects for public school teachers.

Initially, 15 teachers participated in the training. The Instituto Aço Cearense's goal was to encourage teachers to develop intervention projects that minimize the social problems faced by adolescents and young people in the municipality of Marco. Increasingly, young people and adolescents are becoming involved and inserted into a context of social vulnerability, becoming victims of violence almost daily. "According to the teachers who participated in the workshop, there are still no training projects aimed at adolescents and young people that can motivate them to recognize other opportunities and choices," said Luciana Rabelo, Social Projects Coordinator at Instituto Aço Cearense.

At the end of the workshop, 63 books were donated, including "A Benção não foi por acidente, a história de Vilmar Ferreira," which tells the life story of the entrepreneur and founder of Grupo Aço Cearense, who was born in Marco and spent his childhood and adolescence there. The books were delivered to the municipal Department of Education, Sports, and Culture, so that all public schools in the municipality of Marco have the book in their libraries.

The Institute also visited ABAV – Associação Beneficiente Amigos pela Vida-Bom Samaritano, a shelter that provides care for the elderly in the municipality of Marco. This institution receives financial support from the Instituto Aço Cearense. The IAC's next visit to Marco is scheduled for August to host the Pedalando pela Paz (Pedaling for Peace) event, a cycling tour designed to mobilize communities suffering from violence to cultivate a peaceful experience while also awakening young people to the importance of cycling as a sport.
